Mr. Wale Adeosun, CFA, is the Founder, and Chief Executive Officer of Kuramo Capital Management (KCM), an independent investment management firm mobilizing private catalytic capital to fast growing sub-Saharan African businesses to generate attractive returns and positively impact our communities.

KCM has offices in New York City, Lagos, Nigeria and Nairobi, Kenya and it is the General Partner of the $500 million Kuramo Africa Opportunity Funds (KAOF).  KAOF has direct and indirect investments in over 150 companies in 30 sub-Saharan Africa countries in sectors such as Fast-Moving Consumer Goods, Infrastructure-Power, Agribusiness, Technology and Financial Services.   

Mr. Adeosun currently serves on the Boards of several portfolio companies across several sectors in Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and DRC.  He is Chairman of the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF), a New York-based foundation created by the MacArthur Foundation to assist Nigerian Universities. Mr.  Adeosun served on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA). He also served as the first Chairman of the Investment Advisory Committee of the $200 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund. 

Prior to founding Kuramo Capital, Mr. Adeosun was Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where he managed $1 billion in endowment and pension assets. Prior to joining Rensselaer in 2004, Mr. Adeosun was a Managing Director in the Investments Group of the MacArthur Foundation with oversight of $2 billion.  Prior to the MacArthur Foundation, Mr.  Adeosun was a member of the Treasury Group at Inland Steel Industries (Arcelor Mittal) with oversight of $2 billion in pension assets. 

Mr. Adeosun completed his BA in Economics and Business Administration at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he serves as a Trustee of the Board. He received his MBA from John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri with a concentration in Finance. He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1995 and he is a member of the CFA Institute.
